Hotel Fasano

The Best View in Ipanema
From the topless fad of the 80s to the dental floss bikinis of the 90s, Ipanema Beach has long been the trend-setting, summer spot in Rio. The Fasano Family has long been a name synonymous with setting the bar for excellence in gastronomy. And Philippe Starck is an icon in eye popping interior design. When Hotel Fasano brought the three together in late 2007, the result was certainly no surprise, one of the world’s top hotels, offering one of the world’s most exciting culinary experiences, in one of the world’s most exciting travel destinations.

From the breathtaking view of the rooftop infinity pool to the six foot long giant Pekia tree that serves as the lobby desk, the boutique hotel is a collage of earthly minerals, warm tones, and signature Starck whites. The hotel offers eighty-one rooms and ten suites with hardwood floors, each with onyx lamps, ear-shaped mirrors, and vintage 1950s furniture. Each of the ten suites offers a personal balcony with panoramic views of Ipanema Beach and Two-Brothers Mountain.

With a name like Fasano, there’s no doubting the quality of the kitchen. Fasano Al Mare, Brazil, not only exceeds expectations, earning the title “Best Seafood in the City” within a month of opening, but appends the traditional Italian fare with local flare: unique Brazilian dishes and seafood, enlightened with Italian spice. The setting offers the final garnish, with a private dining room and al fresco dining on the outdoor terrace overlooking the beach.

With so much to offer, it’s not hard to understand why W Magazine said, “Ipanema final gets the hotel it deserves” in Hotel Fasano, Rio de Janeiro.
