Faena Hotel and Universe

Ultra Luxurious Decadence
“I went to the Faena Hotel and Universe for the first time on the night of its inauguration, and I remember that when I left, awakened by dawn’s refreshing lash, I thought to myself: all good and well, but I must come back after daybreak to find out whether all of this really exists.”
–Alan Pauls, The Hotel That Has Revived Buenos Aires

Question: When Alan Faena found an old grain silo in the Tango capital of the world, built completely out of red brick hauled all the way from Manchester England, what did he do? Answer: He called up Philippe Starck.

From that phone call, a structure built in 1902, that later fed thousands after World War II, was transformed into the Faena Hotel and Universe. Between the crimson and teal of the pool-side bar and terraced garden, featuring a unique selection of treatments and exotic drinks from fresh Argentinian fruits, to the gold décor and white unicorns of the Bistro, awaits what is indeed a universe of vibrant color and resonating décor so rich, one only need sit and marvel its architecture to be entertained.

Alan Faena didn’t stop there, of course. From award-winning performances in two, intimately small theaters, to art gallery and gourmet market, the warehouse lives up to its roots, no longer stocked with grain, but vibrant history and modern amenities. Guests can even take classes on dance, cooking, and wine before an evening in the old-fashioned music hall, featuring a full sized grand piano, dance floor, and orchestra performances.

In the evening, drop into the dungeon-like banquet area called The Cellar to pick from over four hundred wine labels—the largest collection in Argentina. Once the activity winds down, enjoy spacious rooms with claw-footed tubs, glass-walled bathrooms, and plenty of modern technical gadgetry.

Faena Hotel and Universe offers an experience so rich that Vogue called it “Amongst the 10 most dramatic designs in the world.” Alan Pauls might have thought it a dream after his inaugural visit, but guests agree this hotel is quite real, and on the A-List to stay.
