Hang Glide Rio de Janeiro

See Rio de Janeiro from 1,700 Feet
There is not a place on earth quite like the Cidade Maravilhosa, the nickname given by locals to Rio de Janeiro. Its combination of gorgeous beaches, rich musical culture, beautiful people, and fun-loving culture make it one of the premier tourist destinations on the planet. The geography of the city with the world famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema framed by rock towers Pão de Açúcar and Corcovado (home to the famed Christ the Redeemer Statue) is second to none. So what better way for the adventurous traveler to experience the beauty of Rio than by hang gliding above and soaking in that marvelous vibe? You begin your flight from the Tijuca National Park at a height of 1700 feet. Tijuca winds its way between the city separating the north zone from the south zone at points. The flights last between 10 and 30 minutes depending on the wind conditions, and there is a weight limit of 220 lbs to take flight. After gliding over the city, make sure not to miss time in the sun at both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches before catching live music in Lapa on a weekend night. For those seeking all around adventure, surfing at nearby Prainha would make for a worthwhile day trip from Rio town, and the climbing route Italianos on Pão de Açúcar is a brilliant line considered by some to be the best route in South America.
